About the Writer

My name is Dennis Walker, and I host the Mycopreneur Podcast - a podcast focused on entrepreneurs in the mushroom space. You may know also me from the satirical skits I release daily on Instagram (@mycopreneurofficial).

It’s my honor to serve as the curator of Tune In with Psychedelics.com.

Here’s a look at some of this week’s intriguing and impactful developments in the world of psychedelics

Will Massachusetts Become the Third State to Legalize Psychedelics?

Massachusetts is proving to be a key battleground in the political movement to legalize psychedelics - “Q4,” or Question 4 on the Massachusetts ballot, proposes a regulatory framework to introduce legal psychedelic access to the Bay State.

After Oregon and Colorado pioneered state legislation to legalize and regulate psychedelics, the hope is that Massachusetts can learn from these existing programs and create a framework that expands safe access while prioritizing community health.

A "yes" vote supports this initiative to:

  • Create a Natural Psychedelic Substances Commission and Advisory Board to regulate the licensing of psychedelic substances and services, including the administration of psychedelic substances to individuals 21 years of age or older under licensed supervision;

  • Authorize individuals 21 years of age or older to grow, possess, and use a personal amount of psychedelic substances;

  • Impose an excise tax at a rate of 15% on the sale of psychedelic substances at licensed administration facilities and;

  • Authorize localities to levy an additional tax of up to 2% on psychedelic substances and regulate the time, place, and manner of the operation of natural psychedelic substance licensees.

And a ‘No’ vote? Well, that’s more of the same prohibition we’ve been seeing for the last 50-odd years since the start of The Drug War.

MAPS founder Rick Doblin, Ph.D., a Massachusetts resident, has voiced his support for the Question 4 ballot initiative, urging his community to vote yes. In light of the recent FDA setback for MDMA-assisted therapy, he stresses the urgent need for action.

Doblin suggested ways to support: sharing information on social media, attending upcoming virtual town halls, volunteering for the campaign, and, for Massachusetts residents, confirming voter registration and showing support with campaign materials.

Buffy The Vampire Slayer Star Eliza Dushku Announces New Career as Psychedelic Therapist

Psychedelics have long played a role in the Hollywood underground - look no further than Easy Rider or Altered States - and more recently, Have A Good Trip, in which a who’s who of A-List stars share their most intimate and candid psychedelic experiences.

But now, rather than just inspiring method acting or fueling secret afterparties in the Hollywood Hills, psychedelics are becoming a second-act career path for Hollywood’s former luminaries.

"I had the means to shift directions and choose a course in my life that focused on healing myself so that I could help heal others. I would be remiss if I didn’t now share the transformation, peace, and passion that I have," Dushku told People Magazine about her recent career transition.

Let’s hope Dushku leverages her experience in vampire slaying on screen to help those she guides slay demons in real life.

It’s no secret that microdosing has become a part of mainstream culture - the 1250% increase in Google searches for the term ‘microdosing’ shows that, but the term itself is now being applied to FDA approved substances far outside the realm of psychedelics - does my Espresso this morning technically count as a microdose of coffee?

Artist Profile: Harry Pack

Harry Pack is a multi-media artist who explores the depths of altered consciousness and heightened perception through his work. He is known in the psychedelic community for his incredible ability to visually articulate the dynamics of the ephemeral and idiosyncratic ‘DMT space’.

From his website: What makes Harry’s art particularly unique is the way he incorporates the spiritual toolkit he developed in recovery into his creative process. This inner work has given him a profound connection to the healing power of art, which he channels into every piece, offering viewers an invitation to explore their own subconscious and tap into a sense of the infinite.

Looking forward to next week, The 2nd Annual Oklahoma Mushroom Festival is taking place in Oklahoma City on October 12th and 13th. Over 4,000 people have secured their tickets to join 35+ mushroom experts and 120 + vendors from across the United States in the 17,000 square foot Oklahoma State Fair Grounds and to learn about native psilocybin mushrooms from the United States, how to cultivate various medicinal mushrooms, integration for women’s health, and much more in the Sooner State.

That’s all for now, friends - Until next time, take care of each other!
